Hocus Pocius Studios Musical Catalog & Mission Statement

Pirate Song  (Hoffman, Pocius) I co-wrote this song with Ed Hoffman back in 1995 or so for our band in North Carolina. His band Tuckered does a much tighter and straighter country version, where this version gets a rock drum treatment with a reggae vibe. Featuring Johnny Jackpot on banjo and Rench on drums.

Bolt Band Tryout   (pocius et. al) bolt.com did a contest where each week another instrumentalist would add a track of themselves playing the designated instrument. Some band would pick the best one and they'd move on to the next instrument. This is my submission, playing guitar over a drum, bass, acoustic guitar tracks submitted by others and chosen by bolt.com.

Rockin!   (Pocius, Khan) Me on drums, bass, rhythm guitar and Reza soloing

IYWTL Instrumental   (Pocius) This is a sampled double bass drum lick mashed with other percussive samples over bass, guitar, and keyboard.

Red House (Traditional & Live)   (Conroy, Pocius, Stimler) A sloppy "telecaster meets stratocaster" live recording in a rehearsal space in Brooklyn that included dead rats on the floor. The drummer appeared in the movie Big as "Boy In Leaves"

You Don't Ball Me Anymore   (Khan, Pocius) What started as a heartfelt chord progression with honest lyrics turned into tongue-in-cheek studio tweaking that takes the piss out of it. Featuring Rench on drums.

Some Blues   (Pocius) Some random white boy blues recording I found from years ago. They say not to share what's not your best stuff, but I really don't care.

Ripped  (Pocius) This is an electric guitar solo inspired by Slayer, I suppose, over a sampled beat, to which I added keyboards and bass. Recorded a long time ago.

What To Do  (Hoffman, Pocius) A song we used to play in Tuckered back in 1995.

Skulls (Danzig)   Glenn Danzig's songs he wrote for the Misfits are so damn catchy that they can be played in any genre. Here is an acoustic folk version of one of his songs with my voice all reverbed out in lame fashion. I found out later that Evan Dando did an acoustic version of this song also. Bah.
