Will the Moon Lute Be Unbroken? (Traditional, Pocius) This is a short one-take rendition of Will The Circle Be Unbroken played on an acoustic Martin guitar and a dàn nguy?t (Moon Lute) I picked up in Vietnam. It has two strings.
Pirate Song (Hoffman, Pocius) A song I co-wrote with my band Shiloh/Tuckered in NC. This is the acoustic version, which features Johnny Jackpot on banjo. It's a song about capitalism and it really m,akes more sens to be called "Cowboy Song" but then again Jolly Rogers tattoos are for pirates
Cattle in the Cane (Traditional) I was so inspired by Tony & Wyatt Rice's version of this that I spent a few months working out the licks. My version is 1/2 the speed and 1/10 the tone, touch, and accuracy of Tony's version. Two guitar tracks used in the recording
Blackberry Blossom (Traditional) Another bluegrass classic featuring Johnny Jackpot
Burning Candle (Hoffman, Pocius) Ed Hoffman wrote this chord progression and I just loved it played as fast as possible, so here it is, sounding like a train falling off the track. Johnny Jackpot on banjo.
June Apple (Traditional) (Hoffman, Pocius) Another appalaichian favorite.Johnny Jackpot on banjo, me on bongo, guitar, and Jew's harp. Is that anti-semitic or something?
Me & My Uncle (Traditional) (Hoffman, Pocius) This is "an old cowboy song" according to Bob Weir, who sang the Grateful Dead version. I do my best Bobby impersonation here, and imagine having feathered hair and wearing pink izods on stage with Jerry.
Elves and Shit (Pocius, Conroy) This is a poorly-executed idea, from the guitar perspective, that should be improved upon. With the addition of Mandola from Ronan Conroy, and a reverbed-ouot flute I added, i decided it sounded like "Elves & Shit"...hence the name. I'll re-record it at some point and maybe even ruin it with lyrics about elves and shit
Astrozombies - goofy version (by Glenn Danzig) Sometimes I do silly things, like stay up until 6AM working on Misfits cover songs where I play the drums on the keyboard with my pointer fingers and play goofy bluegrass guitar, and replace the lyrical melody with a circus organ sound. I know...too much time on my hands.
Olde English Folk Tune (Traditional) This is an old folk song from England, I think. Ronan Conroy is on the mic and mandola, I'm hitting the guitar strings both acoustic and electric. Like most of this stuff, it's pretty cool but could definitely be given a more sober and professional treatment. In fact, Nothing on this page was recorded sober or professionally.
